Welcome

Managed Luck is a collection of articles about dealing with uncertainty.

It is written for anyone with an interest in management skills, personal effectiveness, or management systems.

In particular, anyone responsible for promoting risk management, uncertainty management, Beyond Budgeting, or internal control within their organisation should find much of use here.

All the articles are free to read on this website, but are also available "unbranded" and with reasonable modifications if need be, for use on your intranet. Drawing on the materials in Managed Luck is a way to build or extend a lively intranet site promoting your programme, quickly and at reasonable cost.

I believe that promoting an attitude of open mindedness about the future and the skills to deal with it is important. This is where the main benefits of risk management programmes and the like come from and in most organisations there is huge scope for beneficial change.

A recent addition is an article called "Will-power and uncertainty" that looks at how unpredictable events tend to erode our good intentions, and what to do about it.
